This is a great XIXth Century novel, with all the strenghts and shortcomings. I love the old-world style of drawing and the gorgeous, muted colors. Because X-Factor's purview is New York's Mutant Town, the team is constantly reminded of M-Day, the inexplicable event in which 90% of the world's mutants lost their powers (again, see HOUSE OF M and DECIMATION). The literary mastery is undeniable. If you are someone that wants to know more about these events from the perspective of someone involved so that you may form your own opinion on the matter, I encourage you to pick this up and to not judge a book by its cover. This book takes on the problem of evil in a children's book and explains it well. It is like there was a spiritual awakening as eastern influences permeated the West. And of course, Hit-Girl is my favourite character, simply because she is such a badass (I sincerely hope that she never exists in real life, though. Warren's world is not unique, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.
